“It’s very sad to have to miss out on my next match here in Madrid. My hip has been bothering me this week and is slowly becoming more painful. Following the doctors’ advice we decided it was best not to play any further and make the situation worse. In the next few days I will do other tests and follow the specialists’ advice on recovery. Thanks guys for all your support.”
With these words, Jannik Sinner justified his withdrawal from the Mutua Madrid Open, explaining how he still feels pain in his hip and how in the next few days he will do further tests to assess the extent of the problem.
The Italian tennis player decided not to put his body at risk and to listen to the doctors’ advice.
The hip problem was starting to get worse and, at this stage of the season, he couldn’t afford to push himself beyond his limits. The match valid for access to the semifinals of the Masters 1000 in Madrid between Jannik Sinner and Felix Auger-Aliassime will therefore not be played.

There are two major events that Sinner does not want to miss: the Internazionali BNL d’Italia and the Roland Garros. Italian tennis fans can’t wait for Sinner to arrive in Rome to try to win in front of the home crowd.
