Jannik Sinner as of Monday, June 10, is officially the number one tennis player in the world.
The 22-year-old from South Tyrol received the “ATP Year-End No.1” trophy, the globe-shaped cup awarded to those who command the Atp ranking. A milestone achieved with talent, dedication and without burning any bridges, at the end of a maturation that led him to win his first Slam title in Australia this year.
Jannik, hungry and determined as he is, doesn’t want to know about settling, and in an interview with Corriere della Sera he said that he feels happy and at the same time a little disappointed not to have reached the Roland Garros final, but that he is already projected with his mind toward his next goals.
The Italian tennis player has already set his sights on grass events. Sinner spoke this way about his schedule and expectations for the season on the green: “Of course. Now it’s interesting to see how long I can stay number one, see how I perform in Halle, the next event, then there’s Wimbledon and I’m curious to find out how I will play in London.” During a recent interview with Fanpage.it, Paolo Bertolucci reflected on the French Open semifinal between Sinner and Alcaraz.

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner in five sets in the French Open semifinal.
“In the semifinals, I screamed in front of the TV when I saw him chasing lobs where it was clear that there was no chance of recovery” – Paolo Bertolucci said.
ATP President Andrea Gaudenzi, as usual, personally handed over the number one trophy to Sinner, joining the South Tyrolean at the Monte-Carlo Country Club.
After reaching the semifinals of the second Slam of the year, Sinner will kick off his grass-court season at the ATP 500 tournament in Halle, scheduled for June 17-23.
The dream of that little red-haired boy came true and wrote one of the most incredible and exciting pages of history in Italian sport.
